Tips on Arrange Wall Art

Wall art can make your home look as beautiful as an art gallery, but arranging your wall art like an art gallery can be harder than it looks. This guide will provide important tips to help make hanging art in your home easier. There are many different types of wall art and many different techniques that you can use to create an eye-catching arrangement on your walls. The following five simple rules will help you arrange your wall art like a master.

Arranging Wall Art:

1.           Color: Whether you buy a piece of art because the colors go with your living room decor or you buy a piece of art just because you love it or you buy a piece of art to add to a specific collection, when arranging your wall art, color is important. Color can change the whole atmosphere of a room. For example, even though you love your wall-sized framed print of brightly colored geometrical shapes, if you're trying to maintain a calm and relaxing atmosphere in your bedroom, it might not be the most relaxing choice for your bedroom wall.

2.           Balance: Balance is another important key to the arrangement of any wall art. If your wall art is unbalanced, it will detract from the beauty and comfort of a room. In order to create a balanced arrangement, try to distribute your wall art equally around the room rather than putting it all on one wall and leaving the rest bare.

3.           Size: As a general rule, wall art should not be bigger than the furniture in the room. If you have a large piece of wall art that is bigger than your furniture, try hanging it on a completely bare wall that has no furniture in front of or against it. Another option is to hang your large piece of art over the fireplace or over the largest piece of furniture in the room.

4.           Lighting: The lighting around your wall art should complement your arrangement. Art can get lost if the lighting is not sufficient. On the other hand, too much light can be overbearing, making your wall art look obtrusive.
